VOCI: A Journey of Love, Positivity and Impact

Fr. Chidi devoted his life caring for humanity. Youths, women, and children benefitted. Many of the students that benefitted from VOCI and Fr. Chidi’s benevolence have graduated from the University; some are married with families and others are either pursuing higher degrees or working in different parts of the world. Until his death, the organisation was vibrant but the activities of the organisation were reduced to the barest minimum due to inadequate finance. Today, the organisation has been revived by the grace of God with new Board of Directors and Board of Trustees that was inaugurated in December 2020, on the 10th anniversary of his death.

Ndidiamaka M. Nwatu & Nneka P. Nwatu / VOCI intervened at a critical time
Looking back at how far we have come, we are filled with immeasurable gratitude to God Almighty who used VOCI to intervene at a crucial time in our lives.

One could attribute any little achievements we may have attained to self-discipline and determination; we would say that it also has to do with support and guidance that we received from Voice of children international.

We could still vividly recall the mental burden and frustration we felt as new undergraduate student who could not pay off their tuition fees. The fear of not going to write exams with our course mates got so gripped on us as we bemoaned how this could lead to beginning of failures in life.

But just as the good book will always admonish: “amidst any challenge, still believe in miracles”. So, we believed! Fortunately, we could say, a miracle happened.

VOCI came into the spotlight and became our miracle. Not only were our tuition fees paid off by VOCI, we got back our confidence and our dreams of becoming successful in life. We could proudly say VOCI played a key role in who we are today because they secured our education when it was on the brink. We got our voices back and refocused on our academic pursuit. Currently we are undergoing our Master’s degree programs at the University of Stavanger, Norway.

We are so fortunate to be part of Voice of Children International. Even more fortunate to have met Fr. Chidi Osondu of the blessed memory. His selfless sacrifice and belief in humanity is a true legacy of a lifetime.
